David Chang

Born to missionary parents to Bangladesh, he spent most of his childhood playing with local boys in Dhaka and caring for his many pets, including monkeys and countless dogs. Seeking a more substantial education, he transitioned to Kodaikanal International Boarding School in India in 6th grade.  His family relocated from Bangladesh/India to Chicago, IL, to prepare him and his siblings for college.  David went on to earn a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois and worked as a group therapist at a residential psychiatric institution serving teenage patients.  Sensing a call to ministry, he moved to Washington, D.C., to attend seminary and began serving as the Youth Pastor at First Korean UMC in Northern Virginia before becoming the Lead Pastor at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church.  He and his family have also lived in San Diego, where he served as the Education & Missions Pastor at Abundant Life Community.  They are now back in Northern Virginia, where David is honored to serve as the Lead Pastor of Open Door Presbyterian Church.  David is happily married to his wife, Hanna, and is a proud father to two wonderful children, Matthias (15) and Kyla (14).
